In the image, we can see how three-phase systems work through waveform diagrams and vector (polar coordinate) representations. Each phase (A, B, and C) is separated by 120° electrical degrees. The vector diagram shows that each phase has the same magnitude (120 volts) but different angles: A Phase: 0° B Phase: 120° C Phase: 240° Why do we prefer 3-phase systems over 1-phase or 2-phase? Higher Efficiency: Power delivery is more constant, leading to better performance of motors and machinery. Reduced Conductor Size: It requires less material for the same power delivery compared to single-phase systems. Balanced Load: It allows a more balanced and stable electrical system. Smooth Operation: Motors run smoother with less vibration and torque pulsation. In short, 3-phase systems are the backbone of modern industries and infrastructure!
